Rio de Janeiro state to use SMS as a communication tool
The government of Rio de Janeiro state wants to broaden the use of text messages to communicate with citizens. Among the services to be offered will be the confirmation of scheduling of services in hospitals and the follow up of several services. The project was born after a successful initiative earlier this year in school pre-admission. The students’ parents could inform their mobile phone numbers and have pre-admissions confirmed by text messages. The system also used SMS to confirm admission documents, dates and places. Around 500,000 text messages were sent.
