Online retail sales soar 27%
Brazilian online retail sales rose 27% in the first half of 2009 over the same period last year, to R$ 4.8 billion (US$ 2.59 billion), according to the Webshoppers report, released by e-bit. Consumers have been increasing purchases of value added goods, as PCs, Electronics and Home Appliances, leading average ticket to R$ 323 (US$ 174.59). For the second half of the year, e-bit forecasts sales will reach R$ 5.8 billion (US$ 3.14 billion), leading FY sales to R$ 10.6 billion (US$ 5.73 billion), 29.2% more than in 2008.
