Even hit by the crisis, Brazilians want new cell phones
Brazilian consumers still wish to have a last generation cell phone. To purchase their next device, consumers intend to spend R$ 460, 47% more than they paid in their current phone (R$ 315). Newcomers, still with no references to the category, intend to spend 20% less. Data were relased in GTI 2009 – Global Telecoms Insights, a TNS study performed in 32 countries to evaluate telecom trends and perspectives. The survey showed 90% of Brazilians prefer multifuncional devices that offer added resources, as digital camera, music player and games. Worldwide average drops to only 39%. The convergence of technologies into one single device attracts not only youngsters, but also older people.
