E-commerce becomes more popular in Brazil
Online retailing is becoming more popular among Brazilians, according to an Ibope Midia study. Brazilians who consider the internet as their preferred shopping place are 7%, over 5% in 2007. Ibope Midia said the increasing confidence on the shopping process and the arrival of mid-class and low-end consumers to the web made the growth feasible. The average age of internet consumers have also gone up. Between July 2005 and July 2006, only 19% of web shoppers were in the 35-44 years old range, figure that has gone up to 28%. In the same period, the share of the 18-24 range fell from 28% to 21%.
