25.02.2009 Demand for mobile phones will remain strong in spite of the crisis Cell phones are considered a basic need all over the world and the demand for them will remain strong in spite of the economic slowdown, according to the International Telecommunications Organization (UIT). In Europe and the US, many consumers, trying to cut costs, will drop their land lines and keep their mobile phones to save cash. There were 4 billion mobile phone users in the end of the year, with a 24% CAGR growth since 2000. In markets as Singapore and Hong Kong, penetration is above 100%, while in Nigeria it is only in the 30% range and in India, in 25%. Fonte: Reuters « back
