Almost 40% of Brazilian homes have only mobile phones
The advance of telephony in Brazil has relied on the fast adoption of mobile phones during 2008, according to the Pnad research done by Brazilian statistics agency IBGE. From 2007 to 2008, 4.4 million new homes have started counting with telephones, 3.9 million of them through mobile ones. It has made the number of mobile phone-only households reach 21.7 million, or 37.6% of all Brazilian homes. In 2001, only 7.8% of the homes had mobile phones.
